Travel Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

  • Pick-up at Chinggis Khaan International Airport.
  • Transfer to hotel, check-in and rest.
  • Welcome dinner with tour briefing.
  • Overnight in hotel (Ulaanbaatar).

Day 2Ulaanbaatar - Elsen Tasarkhai (300 km by car)

  • Scenic drive west into the Mongol Els desert-steppe.
  • Visit Elsen Tasarkhai small sand dunes.
  • Camel ride with local herders.
  • Visit Uvgun Monastery in Khugnu Khan mountains.
  • Overnight in ger camp (Elsen Tasarkhai).

Day 3Elsen Tasarkhai - Eco Camp (Naiman Nuur) (260 km by car)

  • Drive into the Khangai Mountains.
  • Arrive at eco-camp, gateway to Naiman Nuur Protected Area.
  • Observe nomads catching horses, learn horse handling.
  • Choose your horse for the trek.
  • Overnight in eco-camp.

Day 4Horseback Ride to Shireet Lake (25–30 km)

  • Begin horse trek into Naiman Nuur area.
  • Ride across volcanic valleys and forested ridges.
  • Reach Shireet Lake, the largest and most scenic of the Eight Lakes.
  • Overnight in tent/ger near the lake.

Day 5Shireet Lake - Khuis Lake - Return to Shireet Lake (25–30 km on the horseback loop ride)

  • Ride through alpine meadows and forests.
  • Visit Khuis Lake and smaller surrounding lakes (Bugat, Khalt, Khaya, Shanaa).
  • Return to Shireet Lake by evening.
  • Overnight at lakeside camp.

Day 6Shireet Lake - Eco Camp (25–30 km on the horseback)

  • Return ride from Shireet Lake to eco-camp.
  • Relax and enjoy hot tea with host family.
  • Overnight in eco-camp.

Day 7Eco Camp - Orkhon Waterfall (200 km by car)

  • Drive across the Orkhon Valley (UNESCO site).
  • Visit Ulaan Tsutgalan (Orkhon Waterfall), one of Mongolia’s largest falls (20 m).
  • Overnight in ger camp near the waterfall.

Day 8Orkhon Waterfall - Karakorum - Ulaanbaatar (380–400 km by car)

  • Drive to Karakorum, the 13th-century Mongol capital.
  • Visit Erdene Zuu Monastery (1586) and Karakorum Museum.
  • Continue back to Ulaanbaatar.
  • Farewell dinner.
  • Overnight in hotel (Ulaanbaatar).

Day 9Departure

  • Breakfast at hotel.
  • Transfer to international airport/train station.
