This 20 day spiritual and cultural journey takes you deep into the remote taiga of northern Mongolia, where the ancient traditions of the Darhad shamans continue to thrive. Starting from Ulaanbaatar, the route passes through Bulgan, Murun, Bayanzurkh, and into the wilds of Ulaan Taiga, before reaching the reindeer herders of Tsagaannuur and finally Lake Khuvsgul’s northern shore at Khankh.
From Day 3 onwards, the expedition is guided not only by professional tour leaders but also by authentic Darhad shamans. Travelers will witness and participate in sacred rituals, spirit invocations, and fire ceremonies performed at mountains, rivers, and ovoos across the Darhad Valley and Ulaan Taiga. Each location is both a natural wonder and a spiritual center, where shamans connect with the spirits of the land, water, and sky.
Along the way, you will ride on horseback (and even reindeer) through pristine taiga forests, cross sacred rivers, visit shamanic shrines, and stay with nomadic families—including the legendary Tsaatan reindeer herders. This is not a performance or a staged show: it is an immersion into living shamanic culture rarely accessible to outsiders.
The journey concludes at Lake Khuvsgul, the “Blue Pearl of Mongolia,” where the Darhad shamans perform a final blessing ritual before returning to Ulaanbaatar. This pilgrimage offers a profound encounter with Mongolia’s spiritual heartland.
