Riding the Darkhad white horse through the stunningly beautiful landscapes of the Darkhad Blue Depression is an unforgettable experience.
The Darkhad white horse is the only known breed in history that reached the Arctic Ocean. Ride this snow-white horse, perfectly suited to its homeland, and journey through the legendary land of Ergene Khun.
Travel by plane from Ulaanbaatar to Khuvsgul Province. From there, travel a total of 870 km to Agariin Gurvan Khairkhan in the territory of Bayanzurkh soum. A Darkhad shaman will perform a ritual to mark entry into the sacred land of the Darkhad Depression.
We will ride 40 km on Darkhad white horses while honoring the traditions of the Darkhad shamanic rituals and showing respect to nature.
We will reach the gateway to the legendary land of Ergene Khun. Uliin 13 Ovoo is the mountain pass leading into the Darkhad Depression.

Ride to the banks of the Jargant River in Renchinlkhümbe soum.
Reach local families living near Ongonii 13 Ovoo and Zuslan River. Overnight stay.
Travel along the Ar-Tuj summer pasture, Tamt River, and Jarin River, and camp at the source of the Jarin River – 25 km ride. From the center of the Darkhad Depression’s 360 lakes, we head east toward the Khoridog Saridag mountain range and camp there.
Ride 60 km from Ar-Tuj summer pasture, Khoroo River, Burenkhaan Mountain of Khanh soum, to the northern shore of Lake Khuvsgul.
We will cross Jarin’s High Pass and reach Mönkh Saridag and Burenkhaan mountains, the majestic peaks along Mongolia’s northern border and the Sayan mountain range.
Reach the sacred ovoo of Bayan Mountain, which is used for offerings at Burenkhaan Mountain, and participate in the shamanic fire offering event. Travel 30 km by horse to get there.
Stay overnight in Khatgal village, on the shore of Lake Khuvsgul.
Travel by car 800 km back to Ulaanbaatar.
