The 7-day immersion tour living with a Mongolian nomadic family offers foreign travellers the chance to experience, learn, and engage with various aspects of Mongolian culture, traditions, and lifestyle.
Nomadic lifestyle:
Visitors will learn how to build a traditional yurt (ger), explore its interior setup and household items, and understand how daily life is organized within a nomadic family. You’ll observe how nomads survive in natural conditions, herd animals, and make everyday essentials from raw materials.
Animal husbandry:
Guests can personally experience Mongolia’s traditional livestock practices. Activities include herding, pasture-based living, animal care, breeding, and preparing feed—providing insight into how nomadic households operate.
Traditional food and dairy:
As food is central to nomadic life, visitors will observe and participate in preparing Mongolian dishes and dairy products. Examples include making buuz and bansh (dumplings), processing milk into yogurt, fermented mare’s milk (airag), and other traditional products.
Mongolian customs and traditions:
Travelers will gain understanding of Mongolian customs, household roles, etiquette, and daily practices—such as the role of the housewife and hostess. This includes insights into traditional manners and philosophies of life.
Climate and environment:
Learn how nomads adapt to the country’s diverse geography—mountains, lakes, rivers, deserts, and steppes—as well as varying precipitation and weather conditions.
